Journalist, Registered Nurse, Medical Anthropologist, Coach
Professor Meg Jordan is Chair of Integrative Health Studies at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. She is a clinical medical anthropologist, RN specializing in integrative and collaborative practice models, a behavioral health specialist, National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC), and a grant recipient from Aetna Foundation to explore health coaching for under served populations. She teaches advanced health coaching practices to numerous universities and medical organizations, Arizona’s Center for Integrative Medicine, and the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy. Her keynotes and major presentations are sought by integrative health and wellness conferences in the US and abroad. In addition to mentoring and teaching graduate students, she has a clinical practice in behavioral medicine, working with guided imagery, cognitive restructuring coaching, and helping people navigate integrative health options.
As CEO of Global Medicine Enterprises, Inc., and Global Medicine Hunter (R) media, Dr Jordan consults with business, communities and organizations in India, China, and major hospital networks throughout the U.S. Her leadership seminars and group coaching strategies are featured She is author of several books including the best-selling How To Be A Health Coach: An Integrative Wellness Approach, The Fitness Instinct, and founding Editor of American Fitness Magazine; Co-President of the National Wellness Institute; and former Director of Integrative Practice at the Health Medicine Institute. She served on the board of National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching, which collaborated with the National Board of Medical Examiners for the first national certification of health and wellness coaches.
As an award-winning international health journalist, she has been a featured reporter on a weekly newscast, Global TV's "Healthy Living with Dr Meg Jordan" throughout Canada, and was a West Coast commentator for CNN and "Today Show" and KTVU's "Mornings on Two", San Francisco/Oakland. Her Global Medicine Hunter (R) blog has been called "groundbreaking" and a "trendspotter" by Newsweek and USA Today.
As a professional certified coach, Dr Jordan has earned credentials with the International Coach Federation, and the National Board of Health & Wellness Coaching, among other certificates. Her paper on the differences between psychotherapy and coaching is seminal in the field, and her textbook on coaching is used at over 40 training sites and universities. Renowned for migrating research in neuroscience to practical applications in behavior change, she has brought coaching to groups from communities to board rooms.
